20th TACTICAL FIGHTER WING Wingman - July 1, 1966

Col. Cragg Bids Farewell to 20th Wing

Farewell! The time has come for the Cragg family to bid farewell to the 20th Tactical Fighter Wing, RAF Wethersfield and Essex County, England. As in most assignments, our three years here have had their ups and downs - but a persistent redeeming feature of this assignment has been the wonderful people who have been so kind and who have so enthusiastically supported us and our endeavors

All of us shared a common objective and have strived to another illustrious chapter to the heritage of this famous 20th Tactical Fighter Wing. I should like to quote Livy, from his History of Rome - "that commanders should be counseled, chiefly by persons of known talent; by those who have made the art of war their particular study and whose knowledge is derived from experience; from those who are at present at the scene of action, who see the country, who see the enemy, who see the advantages that occasions offer, and who, like people embarked in the same ship, are sharers of the danger"

All of you have counseled me in some manner. All of you have contributed your wisdom and skill to improve the Wing - thus we all share equally the successes attained by the Wing during the past year. These accolades reflect a concerted team effort by everyone. It is my fervent wish that the achievement records for the forthcoming years will reflect further improvements. The talent is here, the will is here. It's up to you!

The bonds of friendship and respect that have been formulated in the 20th are strongly tied. May our paths cross again so that we can renew and strengthen these bonds on behalf of the United States Air Force

Ernst T Cragg, Colonel, USAF, Commander
